house

My mom bought a new house, she is really excited to move we will live on a lake and the house is really nice. Even though I don't stay there right now im still nervous about living in a new house. My mom was thinking about getting rid of my dog but that is something I would not let happen. I love my dog more then anything and I would not want to live anywhere without her to be there for me to come home too.

project 4

This project is a little more stressful on me along with all the other assignments that have come with the exam week. even with all the stress I hope to get everything accomplished that is needed for the end of the semester.

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was a little different then they normally are. Half our family was gone on vacation so my Nana hosted this year. We normally have 11 people over this year there was only six of us. I was a Little disapointed at first but it turned out to be one of my favorite thanksgiving, because everyone stuck around to play games and to clean. There wasn't any who was grumpy and not willing to help. It was smooth sailing and a very enjoyable time, even though I was sick.

presentations

I really enjoyed watching the different genre presentations. It was very interesting to learn all about the different genres. I really enjoyed the tattoo presentation because she told us how they started off to what they mean today. I really liked how she used her own personal tattoos as an example. I thought it was very interesting what they were and what they meant to her. I also like to have tattoos that mean something to me even if I have to explain what they are.

extra credit

When I went to see the play Osage Count, I  was very torn on weather or not I liked the play or not. I thought the the story line was very well written and I liked all the themes. The only negative thing I have to say about the play was all the yelling throughout the whole play seemed unnecessary. This play was about a disoriented family with a lot of different problems that ranged from drug addiction to being in love with your brother. I would probably not go see this play again because it touched different topics that i was uncomfortable with. But all in all it was a good play.  

Halloween

Halloween this year was very interesting. I had a lot of fun dressing up and going out with my new friends I have made up here. But I was also sad that i missed all of my family/church traditions this year. This year I didn't get to carve a pumpkin with my brother or to decorate the house with all our Halloween decorations. I also didn't get to take the church kids around trick or treating bu t the saddest part about that was I didn't get to get candy either. Even though I had a lot of fun for Halloween there was a part of me that wished I didn't have to miss the events back home too.

Fairy Tale

For me writing my fairy tale was fun but difficult at the same time. I was sitting in my room for the longest time trying to figure out what object I should use to form my fairy tale around. I took a break from thinking about it so I went to wash  my face but i couldn't find my hair tie to tie my hair back, and i was wishing to myself that my hair tie would magically find me. Once i found it washed my face and sat back down to write my fairy tale I used my hair tie as my object to base my story around.

This past weekend I went home. I ended up driving home at 3 in the morning because I missed my dog. My dog cloud is 7 years old, and when she sees me she just doesn't know what to do with herself. Once I got home my mom was kinda upset at me because of the time but then she was okay with it. I went to church in the morning with my mom everyone was pretty excited to see me because know one new I was coming home this weekend. I got to spend time with my family and my church family even got to see some of my friends, all in all I thought it was a good choice to drive home even though I was super tired from the drive.

theater

For my theater class I have to go see plays, and then critique them in a paper. The play I went to see today was about a man and his wife who came back to haunt him and his new wife as a ghost. His wife as a ghost went on and on teasing him, and trying to destroy his current relationship with his new wife. The ghost even tried to kill him so that he could be dead too. Instead of killing him she ended up killing his other wife, who then became a ghost as well. Now he had both of his wives haunting/ annoying him. They all began to realize they didn't really ever love each other, considering the affairs or silent treatments that went on in both relationships. So the husband called in a lady who freed him from his two wives and he moved far away where they couldn't follow him. It was a very interesting/funny play.

1. Comment on the various cinematic elements in the movie. What role does lighting, color, camera angles, and sound play in the story? It's okay if you don't know the technical terms. Talk about them to the best of your ability. Lighting seemed to be darker, kind of dim and contrasted.
2. What are some of the themes present in the film? The themes are to show the cruelness of people and also the niceness of them as well.
3. Carrie is a horror movie that defies the genre because it blurs the lines between the victims and the monsters. Who are the monsters in this film? Why do you think so? Refer to specific scenes in the movie. I think the mother and the mean girls are the monsters, because the mother was so protective and messed up with her ways that it made Carrie scared. Also the girls because they kept thinking of ways to torture Carrie instead of trying to be nice to her.
4. What are some recurring images or ideas in the film? What do you think these images or ideas symbolize? carries hair in her face as it moved more and more out of her face the more confident she became.
5. Choose a character other than Carrie. Examine that character's personality and motives and the purpose they serve to the rest of the plot. billy he saw what was wrong and noticed the pain everyone put carrie through. Even though he was motivated by his girlfriend to take her to the prom.
6. What are some criticisms you have of the film? it seemed unrealistic of how mean all the girls were

I went to East campus with my leadership FYE class. We walked around and got to see the first buildings on Western. In the old gym there is now a library, and in there we all looked at old newspaper clippings, pictures, and yearbooks. The gym/library was one of my favorite places because it reminded me of the the rec center but way smaller. I think the indoor track is what reminded me most about the rec. Im so glad we went to visit east campus on the day that we did because it was one of the nices days of the week, no jacket needed.

Class yesterday was very nice i was glad to get to read other students papers it helped me understand more about this project and made me feel good, because I felt like I was on the right track with what i needed to be doing. I realized when reading other students papers that they were all similar in some sort of way, family or teachers were usually the trigger to helping them proceed on with reading and there literal education.

powderpuff

this past weekend I went home to see my friends, and Saturday I was going to go to gvsu to see my friends who lived there and spend the rest of the weekend with them. once i got into town i found out i couldn't go anymore because they were all sick. even though i was sad i didn't get so them, i still got to go to the fair with some of my other friends who are still in high school. At the fair we went up to the milk barn and they started talking to us, and they asked my friend if she wanted to wear the cow suit. So she wore it and danced around with all the little kids it was a great time. Also later I found out that it was powderpuff weekend, so not only did i get to see my close friends but i also got to other old class mates all dressed up as cheerleaders.

       Class yesterday was very interesting I really enjoyed the class discussion we had, it also made time go by a lot faster then normal. These class discussions made the reading more enjoyable for me and more understandable. Finding out other peoples opinions about something helps me a great deal with understanding the text better. I hope the next reading and discussion will be just as helpful and interesting.
       When I'm writing papers i always get a little nervous, because when it comes to writing I'm scared that I never make sense to anyone but myself. I tend to ramble on about what I'm writing with no stops and no breaks.

my name is Kaylyn Hite, I was born in Kalamazoo Michigan but lived in Sturgis most of my life.I am a freshman here at Western Michigan University. I only have one brother and he is 20 years old and is a Sophomore at Grand valley State University. I also have a dog named cloud who i miss very much! i love her. As a high school student I participated in swimming, ski club, Soccer and choir. During the summer all i ever want to do is hangout with my friends work and be out on the lake, being home is not an option. I consider myself a funny out going person, who can also be shy at times.
